Abutilon megapotamicum 'Variegatum' (commonly known as "Chinese Lanterns") is an unusual woody shrub growing to approximately 1.2 metres in height and width. Grown for its bird-attracting flowers, this variegated plant will provide colour all year round with its coloured leaves. In summer, red and yellow flowers emerge.

This plant is frost tolerant to 0°C. Abutilon megapotamicum 'Variegatum' will benefit from vigourous pruning once a year to maintain density. Fertilise plants when young for best results and keep moist in summer with periodic watering and a deep layer of mulch. Plants may require some support if grown in an exposed locations.
